About The Position

We are seeking an experienced content strategy professional to join a cross-functional team supporting work with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This initiative aims to improve user experience and accessibility, increase mobile parity, and enhance system performance for Veterans accessing vital health services. This work aligns with human-centered design, Agile methodologies, and government digital services best practices to ensure equitable and secure digital access to health information. You’ll have the opportunity to join a project that directly supports Bixal’s mission of improving how government serves people. While the project has a defined timeline, we believe in open communication and proactive career support. You’ll be kept informed of contract status — and we’ll be here to help you grow into what’s next, whether within this project or beyond it. This role is a temporary employment position that will support this contract full time from April 6 – June 26 and part time March 23 – April 3 (transition in) and June 29 – July 10 (transition out).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree plus at least four years of Information Architecture experience.
  • Technical architecture experience in enterprise or federal systems.
  • Experience with VA systems or other government digital services a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (Section 508, WCAG 2.2).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain public trust clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Portfolio demonstrating IA systems for complex digital products.

Responsibilities

  • Support efforts to structure and model content, navigation, and data flows across the MHV platform.
  • Work closely with UX researchers, designers, and product teams to create intuitive user pathways.
  • Support the development of taxonomies, metadata models, and content governance strategies.
  • Support accessibility, equity, and scalability in Information Architecture approaches.
  • Support research synthesis and contribute to design artifacts and documentation.
  • Other relevant duties as qualified and trained to execute.
