About The Position

At Father Joe’s Villages, our Guest Services team serves as a critical front door for individuals experiencing homelessness and housing instability, connecting them to essential resources, coordinated entry pathways, and supportive services. Through compassionate engagement, accurate information-sharing, and day-to-day operational support, Guest Services help ensure that every individual who walks through our doors feels welcomed, supported, and connected to care. The Role As an Information and Referral Specialist, you will serve as a welcoming first point of contact for individuals accessing services. You will provide accurate information, referrals, and hands-on support while helping clients connect to resources available within Father Joe’s Villages and throughout the community. This role is ideal for someone who is empathetic, organized, and comfortable working in a dynamic, high-volume environment where each interaction can make a meaningful difference.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Six (6) months of experience in customer service, administrative, social services, or other client-facing roles is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing information, referrals, or direct support to individuals accessing services or community resources.
  • Basic proficiency with standard office technology and systems (e.g., Microsoft Office or similar tools).
  • Familiarity with data entry, documentation, and client tracking systems (e.g., HMIS or similar platforms).
  • Knowledge of community resources or human services environments, or the ability to quickly learn and apply that knowledge.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, respectfully, and effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when handling client information and documentation.
  • Ability to respond calmly and appropriately to urgent or sensitive situations using sound judgment.
  • Professionalism and discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information.
  • Ability to build rapport and maintain a welcoming, service-oriented approach with individuals from diverse backgrounds and lived experience

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an initial point of contact for clients accessing services.
  • Provide clear information, referrals, directions, and crisis support to clients and community members.
  • Support clients in navigating available community resources and meeting immediate basic needs through one-on-one assistance.
  • Register clients for services and accurately enter client data and documentation into the agency’s internal HMIS system (CSTAR).
  • Answer and route phone calls, schedule appointments, and communicate relevant updates to staff.
  • Support daily front desk and facility operations, including opening, closing, and maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
  • Receive, sort, and distribute client and agency mail, packages, and deliveries.
  • Coordinate and communicate appointment schedules and service availability with team members.
  • Follow program policies, documentation standards, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Complete required trainings and perform other duties as assigned.
