The Informatics Academic Advisor provides academic advising and student support for current and prospective students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Informatics (INFO). Reporting to the Lead Informatics Advisor, this position collaborates with all members of the INFO program team (Chair, Program Manager, other Academic Advisors, Program Coordinator) as well as iSchool Admissions, faculty, students, UW departments, employers, and community partners to support and develop the Informatics degree and minor programs and to facilitate the program's goals. Responsibilities include academic advising, communications, degree program promotion, student recruitment, event planning, records management, and other student services. This advisor serves as the primary point of contact for prospective students and works closely with the iSchool Office of Admissions on program outreach and recruitment initiatives. Additionally, the advisor supports joint student-facing activities, such as new student welcome events and graduation. They are expected to participate in iSchool communities of practice related to student support and advising, sharing best practices across the school's five degree programs. In the iSchool there is an expectation that all faculty and staff will step up where they see an opportunity to apply their special expertise or talents, speak up when they identify opportunities or concerns, and lead by taking actions that exemplify the iSchool's core values. Leadership within the iSchool is expressed in diverse ways reflecting the variety of styles and cultures that are represented by our faculty and staff.
