About The Position

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases & Geographic Medicine, is seeking applicants for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor level and above. Applicants must have an M.D. degree, or equivalent, from an approved LCME medical school, and have satisfactorily completed an Internal Medicine residency program, and an Infectious Diseases fellowship program, from an ACGME accredited program. Candidates must be eligible for Texas medical licensure and be board-certified in Internal Medicine and board-certified/eligible in Infectious Diseases. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. Consideration may be given to applicants seeking less than a full-time schedule.

Requirements

  • M.D. degree or equivalent from an approved LCME medical school.
  • Completion of an Internal Medicine residency program from an ACGME accredited program.
  • Completion of an Infectious Diseases fellowship program from an ACGME accredited program.
  • Eligibility for Texas medical licensure.
  • Board-certified in Internal Medicine.
  • Board-certified/eligible in Infectious Diseases.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in developing a research laboratory.
  • Established track record of obtaining research funding.
  • Experience in teaching and mentoring medical students and residents.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an independently funded basic science or translational science laboratory in the field of infectious disease research.
  • Produce peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts.
  • Obtain extramural funding support for research.
  • Attend and present at national and international scientific conferences.
  • Develop an international scientific reputation in the field of infectious diseases research.
  • Apply for a DOCS award.
  • Provide patient care on the Infectious Diseases Inpatient Consult Services at Clements University Hospital and Parkland Hospital.
  • Participate in the teaching and training of medical and physician assistant students, residents, and ID fellows.
