About The Position

Regions Hospital has a great opportunity for an Infection Preventionist to join an established team working across the whole of the HealthPartners care group. This role carries out activities to reduce the risk of infection transmission to patients, visitors, and healthcare workers. By working with leadership, nursing, medical, and ancillary staff to coordinate the infection prevention and control program, the Infection Preventionist is responsible for: Conducting surveillance for infections by utilizing standard protocols Managing and analyzing critical data and information Providing guidance and consultation on infection prevention and control practices Leading projects or serving as the infection prevention representative on workgroups and performance improvement teams Developing and providing infection prevention-related education Consolidating research and evidence to support decision making on practice recommendations. Supporting regulatory, accreditation, and certification compliance. This role is ideal for someone with demonstrated interest in infection prevention through coursework, education, or experience. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, day shift (core hours are 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.), with after hours coverage rotation. Primarily onsite, but flexible to include occasional remote work (in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, or South Dakota only), depending on business needs. This role will travel occasionally to round in an offsite clinic.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, clinical laboratory science, microbiology, public health, environmental health, or a related field.
  • Current Minnesota professional license as applicable (e.g., Registered Nurse) to professional background or education.
  • Certified in Infection Control (CIC) certification required within three years of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of experience in an acute care, ambulatory care, clinical laboratory, or public health setting.
  • Experience in infection prevention and control.
  • Experience doing surveillance for surgical site infections, sterile processing, and surgery.
  • Current Certified in Infection Control (CIC) certification.
