Identifies, investigates, and records data concerning nosocomial infections and infectious diseases. Initiates infection control measures as directed by infection control committee. Develops infection control policies and prevention programs.

Requirements

  • Accredited Program (Required)
  • Clinical Lab Technologist License (TN LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL)
  • Registered Nurse Compact License (RN LICENSE COMPACT) - Compact RN Multistate
  • Registered Nurse License (RN LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL)
  • Requires critical thinking skills, effective communications skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel PowerPoint and EHR systems.
  • One (1) year of relevant healthcare experience required.
  • Florida State licensure required for Registered Nurse or Clinical Lab Technologist.
  • Registered/Professional Nursing, Epidemiology, or Microbiology program, or a Master's Degree in Public Health (MPH).

Responsibilities

  • Uses standard methods and criteria for identifying infections.
  • Investigates and monitors known or potential sources of suspected infections in order to determine source and ensure control.
  • Provides staff training and education.
  • Maintains, records, tracks, and trends data concerning infections and infectious diseases.
