About The Position

The Infection Preventionist RN is a registered professional nurse who performs surveillance, prevention, and control activities to reduce risk of endemic and epidemic nosocomial infections of patients, visitors, and employees. This individual is responsible for the Infection Control Program and Employee Health Program of MDH. Day to day supervisors for duties and assignments will be through the Infection Preventionist RN Coordinator.

Requirements

  • Currently licensed RN in the state of Illinois (or eligible).
  • Five years of patient care experience.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) recommended within 5 years of acceptance of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Expert knowledge of patient care process.
  • Basic knowledge of infection control.
  • Experience with continuous quality improvement tools and techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Perform surveillance, prevention, and control activities to reduce risk of infections.
  • Manage the Infection Control Program and Employee Health Program.
  • Supervise day-to-day duties and assignments as directed by the Infection Preventionist RN Coordinator.
