Requirements

• Infection Control and Prevention certification is a MUST
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in Infection Control in a health care facility
• Current NJ State Nursing License (RN or LPN)
• Specialized Training in Infection Control

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, organize, implement, and evaluate the community infection prevention program to prevent, recognize, and control the onset and spread of infection.
• Provide infection prevention and control education to all employees during orientation and annually thereafter, including classes in infection prevention and control practices and employee health.
• Develop education programs in response to identified infection control needs.
• Organize and chair the community's Infection Prevention and Control Committee.
• Establish routine, ongoing, and systematic collection, analysis, interpretation, and distribution of surveillance data to identify infections, infection risks, communicable disease outbreaks and to maintain or improve resident health status.
• Provide environmental rounds to observe infection control and prevention compliance in the community.
• Utilize recognized surveillance criteria such as but not limited to CDC's National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) to track trends and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Provides guidance and review of infection control practices with Department Managers.
