The Infection Prevention Specialist supports and assists the Infection Prevention Manager with the daily operations of the overall hospital Infection Prevention program. This role assumes responsibility for Infection Prevention departmental functions in the absence of the IP Manager. The specialist assists with the development, implementation, and monitoring of Infection Prevention functions, maintaining the reporting system for high-risk diagnoses, patient groups, physicians, and specific care processes. Additionally, the specialist consults, educates, and assists others in achieving desirable Infection Prevention outcomes. They are also responsible for making suggestions on revisions to Infection Prevention policies for practice changes and the development of guidelines to enhance positive outcomes. The specialist leads interdisciplinary teams in the review, analysis, and recommendation of practice changes and the development of guidelines related to infection prevention issues, aiming to enhance clinical and financial outcomes.
