About The Position

The Infection Prevention RN LLRC coordinates infection prevention programs, software, and education for the Long-Term Care Facility. Working under the direction of the Director of Nursing, this position collaborates with other departments within the Long-Term Care facility to ensure excellence in infection prevention, which is reflective of the CCH mission, vision, and values. Performs long-term care surveillance within the Skilled Nursing Facility and data collection as part of an overall infection-control program. Investigates possible incidences of infection and implements remedial action. Works with the infection control committee to establish infection control standards and procedures and educate staff on how to prevent and control infections as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred.
  • Wyoming Nursing license.
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) within 3 months of acceptance of position.
  • 5 years' clinical experience preferred.
  • Primary professional training in nursing, medical terminology, microbiology, and epidemiology.
  • Specialized training in infection prevention and control per CMS guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the Infection Prevention expert for the Long-Term Care facility.
  • Ensures the Long-Term Care facility is always survey ready from an Infection Prevention standpoint.
  • Ensures the Long-Term Care facility is operating within federal and state laws and all regulations.
  • Tracks and analyzes infection rates for employees and residents.
  • Collects and assists with surveillance data.
  • Investigates incidences of infection and implements remedial action.
  • Implements procedures to avoid Infection Prevention incidences for both employees and residents.
  • Operates software for Infection Prevention including EPIC, NHSN, Point Click Care, etc.
  • Serves as a resource for staff, volunteers and residents on Infection Prevention practices and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Provides education in Infection Prevention to employees through orientation and department updates and meetings.
  • Assists with the maintenance and development of standards through policies and procedures for Infection Prevention, as established through APIC, SHEA, AOHP, OSHA, CDC, DNV, CMS, etc.
  • Provides written reports to the Infection Prevention committee.
  • Leads/participates in Infection Prevention Committee.
  • Serves on Antimicrobial Stewardship and/or other appropriate teams.
  • Serves on Quality Assessment and Assurance Committee.
  • Leads Hand Hygiene initiatives.
  • Serves on or leads other committees as assigned.
  • Cross trains to other areas to assist when needed.
  • Participates as a member of the nursing leadership team in on-call requirements.
  • Provides service excellence to all customers.
  • Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.
  • Complies with the hospital's Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
