About The Position

The Infection prevention Quality Nurse reports to the Director of Quality and Risk Management. 1. The Infection Prevention Nurse is responsible to facilitate the operation of an effective hospital wide Infection Prevention program. The Infection Prevention Nurse role insures compliance with appropriate regulatory, legislative, and accreditation standards. They also provide consultation and education to staff, physicians, and leaders. 2. ACHC Accreditation Coordination role for the hospital and clinics oversees the entire accreditation process from start to finish. The coordinator works with leadership to prepare for accreditation surveys. The coordinator acts as a consult to the organization for questions related to CMS, MDH, and ACHC accreditation standards. 3. The Quality Nurse supports and participates in interdisciplinary performance and quality improvement processes. The Quality Nurse assists with the Sepsis and Antibiotic Stewardship programs and collaborates on Hospital Performance initiatives.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Registered Nursing
  • At least two years of experience in Acute Care
  • BLS Certification

Responsibilities

  • Manages surveillance activities of infection prevention with implementation of control measures and prevention of infections.
  • Manages clinical data through targeted and non-targeted surveillance.
  • Complies with Confidentiality of the Medical Record.
  • Responsible for scheduling and preparing for the Infection Prevention Committee.
  • Determines when an infection is hospital or community acquired on the basis of CDC/NHSN guidelines.
  • Reports mandated surveillance outcomes to the CDC/NHSN and MDH.
  • Responsible for writing and maintaining Infection Control Policies and Procedures.
  • Collaborates with the Director Quality & Risk Management, Physicians and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Supports hospital quality improvement activities with data support, analysis and internal consulting.
  • Monitors and maintains current knowledge of key hospital accrediting and regulatory agencies
  • Coordinates the hospital and clinics accreditation process.
  • Supports continuous quality improvement.
  • May serve as coach and mentor for other positions in the department
