About The Position

The Infection Prevention Nurse / Employee Health Nurse is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of infection prevention, antibiotic stewardship, and employee health programs to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors. This role monitors and investigates infections, implements prevention strategies, manages employee health services, and ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Qualifications Education & Licensure: • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Illinois required. • Current BLS (CPR) certification required. • APIC certification within 2 years of hire. Experience: • Minimum of 2–3 years of clinical nursing experience required; • Experience in infection prevention or employee health preferred. • Experience with regulatory reporting, epidemiology, and occupational health programs preferred.

Requirements

  • Illinois RN License
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • PALS/ENPC required within the first 6 months
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Illinois required
  • Current BLS (CPR) certification required
  • APIC certification within 2 years of hire
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of clinical nursing experience required
  • Knowledge of infection prevention principles, occupational health, and healthcare epidemiology
  • Familiarity with CDC, OSHA, Joint Commission, and state/federal regulations
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication, education, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead audits, investigations, and staff training programs
  • Use all EHR and software platforms specific to the organization and your job requirements
  • Uses all safe patient handling equipment, all patient care equipment, and all technology, as directed, and per manufacturer’s guidelines
  • Must prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly organized and efficient

  • Must be a self-starter requiring little guidance
  • Demonstrates professionalism, reliability, and respect for confidentiality
  • Tech savvy to use reporting software, excel, NHSN, Microsoft Office including Teams
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout hospital units
  • Ability to assist employees or patients as needed during health assessments or procedures
  • Ability to lift, push, or move up to 35 pounds occasionally
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity sufficient to perform assigned duties
  • Vaccinations required by IDPH and CDC
  • TB testing
  • Fit testing
