About The Position

Our patients are our number one priority! We're committed to giving children back their childhood! The Infection Prevention Manager will ensure hospital compliance with the Joint Commission and other regulatory standards for Infection Prevention and Control. This role involves performing infection surveillance, conducting outbreak investigations, and overseeing the monitoring of infection prevention practices across all departments. The manager will also report communicable diseases to the state, initiate and revise infection prevention plans, and serve as the Chair for the Infection Prevention subcommittee. Additionally, the position includes providing educational offerings for new employee orientation and ongoing in-services, consulting with department heads and physicians, and participating in performance improvement activities.

Requirements

  • Certification in Infection Prevention and Control
  • Minimum 3 years of infection prevention and control experience
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited institution in Nursing, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or a related field
  • Current Texas RN license from the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners if applicant holds a nursing degree
  • Understanding of statistical analysis preferred
  • Ability to problem-solve and develop action plans that will prove helpful in achieving measurable objectives
  • Ability to work with EMR, spreadsheets, databases, and application of basic software: MS Word, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.
  • Strong facilitation and collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary groups
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication skills, good organizational and time management skills

Responsibilities

  • Ensure hospital compliance with the Joint Commission and other regulatory standards for Infection Prevention and Control
  • Perform infection surveillance including medical record review, data collection, aggregation, analysis, and trend identification
  • Conduct outbreak investigations and initiate control measures
  • Oversee the monitoring of infection prevention practices for all departments and personnel
  • Report communicable diseases to the state as required by law
  • Initiate, review, and revise infection prevention risk assessment, plan, policies, and procedures
  • Serve as Chair for the Infection Prevention subcommittee and report to the QAPI committee
  • Provide educational offerings for new employee orientation and ongoing in-services
  • Communicate regularly with the Infection Control Medical Advisor regarding individual infection cases, identified trends and other infection control matters
  • Consult with department heads and physicians as needed to improve care
  • Initiate follow-up on employee/patient exposures to communicable diseases and employee compliance
  • Serve as a resource for all departments and staff as needed
  • Participate in performance improvement activities
  • Provide direct leadership and support for Wound Care
  • Actively participate in Regulatory Readiness activities, including partnering to ensure EOC standards are met
  • Partner with development team on construction design and development to verify compliance with IC standards
  • Maintain knowledge on current Evidence Based practice for areas of responsibility
  • Perform other duties as directed
