About The Position

The Infection Prevention Coordinator is responsible for the strategic development, implementation, and operational oversight of the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) program. This role serves as a subject matter expert, educator, and consultant to all departments, ensuring that the facility remains a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.The Coordinator manages the daily operations of the IPC program, serving as the primary expert in identifying and mitigating infectious risks, managing outbreaks, and ensuring organization-wide compliance with CDC and OSHA guidelines. A key focus of this role is maintaining constant "survey-readiness" to ensure the facility meets all regulatory standards, including but not limited to The Joint Commission standards and CMS Conditions of Participation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN), Medical Technology, Microbiology, Epidemiology, or Public Health (MPH).
  • Current professional license in a relevant healthcare field (e.g., RN, MT, MPH).
  • Three years of clinical or healthcare-related experience (Nursing, Laboratory, or Public Health) with at least two years specifically in infection control or a related field
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to quickly learn healthcare-specific software, such as Electronic Health Records (EHR) and infection surveillance platforms.
  • Exceptional ability to manage multiple projects, maintain detailed records, and analyze complex data to identify infection trends.
  • Ability to evaluate high-pressure, complex situations and determine the best evidence-based course of action to ensure patient and staff safety.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, exercise creative problem-solving, and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across all departments. Must be able to deliver feedback and coaching in a respectful, clear, and compassionate manner.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, professional integrity, and the emotional intelligence needed to handle sensitive clinical situations with empathy and respect.
  • Ability to relate to a diverse group of people—including physicians, patients, and families—while maintaining a positive, solution-oriented attitude.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC®) is highly preferred. (If not certified at the time of hire, the candidate is required to obtain the CIC® credential within two (2) years of their start date to remain in the position).
  • Additional certification in sterile processing (e.g., CRCST) is a plus but not required.
  • BLS certification within 3 months of start date
