About The Position

Report, evaluate and maintain records of infections among patients and personnel as well as review and evaluate all aseptic, isolation and sanitation techniques employed in the Medical Center and report any discrepancies. Support the mission and vision of the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) and that of the department.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of principles and practices in healthcare field with emphasis on infection control.
  • Knowledge of data collection techniques.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Epidemiology or related field.
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience at AUBMC or 5 - 7 years of experience in an Infection Control position in a similar healthcare setting.
  • Certified Board in Infection Control.
  • English and Arabic (IET >/= 500).
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Public Heath or related field such as Infection Control or Risk Management is preferred.
  • French is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily rounds, study and review infection control policies and ensure they are updated according to set standards.
  • Observe and report compliance with all aseptic, isolation and sanitation techniques employed in the Medical Center.

  • Assess environmental control through routine environmental rounds, environmental culturing and air sampling especially in high-risk areas.
  • Conduct audits using Center of Disease Control (CDC) definitions for Hospital Acquired Infections as well as Hand Hygiene by conducting surveillance rounds, implementing action plans and compiling a monthly report.
  • Participate and issue infection control risk assessment related to the Medical Center construction and renovations to ensure that infection control issues are addressed and to prevent transmission of pathogens to immunocompromised patients.
  • Evaluate communicable disease exposure within the Medical Center.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by direct supervisor.
