Get to Know Your Team: UT Health Tyler, the flagship hospital of the system, has 502 licensed beds specializing in advanced acute care medicine. Our hospital includes a 24-hour ER with Level 1 trauma center, a comprehensive stroke center, more than 500 physicians and a full complement of subspecialty groups.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Clinical Laboratory Sciences (Medical Technologist), or successful completion of tertiary education in Nursing, Public Health, Epidemiology, Microbiology or other healthcare related field.
  • Experience in Infection Prevention and a minimum of 2 years of clinical hospital experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
  • 1 year of experience with quality, infection prevention, and/or performance improvement in addition to tertiary education.
  • Experience in data abstraction or use of the electronic medical record.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate-Infection Prevention and Control (a-IPC) recommended within 1 year of hiring to the position.
  • Current certification in infection prevention (CIC) or obtains within 4 years of hiring to position.
  • Current APIC membership highly recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and coordination of the Infection Prevention and Control Program throughout the facility.
  • Work with the Infection Prevention Team and Market Director of Infection Prevention.
  • Ensure the Infection Prevention and Control Program is in compliance with all regulatory reporting requirements including local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Identify, investigate, monitor, and report healthcare-associated infections.
  • Collaborate with teams and individuals to create infection prevention strategies.
  • Provide feedback and sustain infection prevention strategies by researching appropriate policies/procedures.
  • Perform infection related surveillance for healthcare associated infections.
  • Help investigate outbreaks.
