About The Position

The Infection Control Preventionist Lvl II position at NYC Health + Hospitals involves conducting ongoing infection control surveillance, prevention, and control program activities within a healthcare setting. The role focuses on identifying early and/or suspected outbreaks of infections and communicable diseases, controlling and reducing the risk of exposure, and avoiding transmission using epidemiologic principles. Approximately 50% of the time will be spent on surveillance. The position also includes leading outbreak investigations, participating in performance improvement initiatives, and mentoring junior infection preventionists. The work shift is from 8:00 A.M to 4:00 P.M.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Epidemiology, Microbiology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Nursing or a related discipline.
• Three years of satisfactory clinical experience or experience in infection prevention and control.
• Current Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) issued by CBIC or equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

• Baccalaureate degree in relevant disciplines with four years of experience.
• Experience in healthcare epidemiology or related fields.
