About The Position

The School of Dental Medicine is seeking an Infection Control & Safety Manager to develop and execute annual SDM Infection Control and safety plans. Under the supervision and direction of the Compliance Officer, the incumbent's primary responsibilities are as follows: Keep abreast of clinical infection control and safety requirements for Article 28 facility and plan for the implementation and evaluation of protocols to meet and adhere to NYS DOH regulations. The role includes monitoring and documenting adherence to infection control and safety protocols with inspections, reporting, coordinating remediation, and implementation of sanctions. The Infection Control & Safety Manager will serve as an educator and conduct required annual and ad hoc training for students, faculty, and staff, and will also serve as Chair for the Infection and Hazard Control Committee. Additional responsibilities include conducting dental unit waterline testing, managing, updating, and training faculty, students, and staff on the school's emergency response system (CODE5), maintaining/updating Incident Report Forms, Occupational Exposure Guidelines, and other clinical safety forms, auditing all emergency equipment in clinical areas for expiration and functionality, reordering emergency supplies as needed, and maintaining quality assurance data on incident reports. Other compliance and clinical operation responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH)
  • 5+ years of clinical experience
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 1 year in leadership or training role

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Dental Infection Prevention and Control (CDIPC)
  • Prior experience in a dental education environment
  • Knowledge of CODA Standards
