About The Position

At Langton Shores and Waverly Gardens, Presbyterian Homes & Services (PHS) offers a purpose-driven environment focused on enriching the lives of older adults. This full-time position is for an Infection Control and Prevention Specialist to support both Waverly Gardens and Langton Shores communities. The role is an opportunity for a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse to monitor and advise on infection control measures established through organizational policy and procedures in coordination with the PHS Clinical teams. Waverly Gardens is located 15 miles north of St. Paul, just off I-35E, offering Assisted Living, Assisted Living with Memory Care, Enhanced Assisted Living, and Care Center/Long Term Care. PHS emphasizes empowering and engaging its team members, with a strong commitment to internal growth and development. PHS serves over 26,000 older adults through 60+ affiliated senior living communities in Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin, and through Optage® and Genevive®.

Requirements

  • Must be a licensed nurse in the state in which you practice.
  • 2+ years of healthcare/clinical experience preferred.
  • Certification in Infection Prevention and Control or ability to obtain immediately after hire.
  • Knowledge in the field of infectious disease and epidemiology.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal regulatory requirements for long-term care.
  • Demonstrated ability to write and implement policies and procedures.
  • Ability to apply experience with technology and IT based instruction.
  • Must have or willing to obtain CPR certification.
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and communication skills; adaptability, flexibility, and creativity.
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of people.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to communicate with all customers.
  • Demonstrated compatibility with PHS's mission and operating philosophies
  • Demonstrates competency in teaching and applying adult education.

Responsibilities

  • Implementing the infection prevention and control program and education.
  • Using clinical knowledge and specialized training to coordinate, deliver and maintain efficient and effective infection prevention and control programs.
  • Conducting infection control research and serving as a consultant to other departments to ensure compliance with evidence-based infection control standards.
  • Providing clinical education to employees with the goal of providing services excellence and decreasing the risk of infectious disease transmission.
