About The Position

Highland Park United Methodist Church Day School is a great place to work with children! This position is responsible for guiding and caring for our young friends in our all-day, early childhood education program. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Infant/Toddler Teacher to join our amazing team at HPUMC Day School! The ideal candidate will have a passion for early childhood education, strong classroom management skills, and a commitment to cultivate a positive learning environment. This role involves caring for children, implementing curriculum, fostering social-emotional development, and maintaining a nurturing classroom environment.

Requirements

  • Experience working in an early childhood program required.
  • CPR and First Aid Certifications (can be completed while employed).
  • Demonstrated skill in working with children, planning developmentally appropriate lessons, guiding children, interacting positively with children, parents and co-workers.
  • Commitment to continuing professional education.
  • High School Diploma is required.
  • Must be a committed Christian comfortable working in a United Methodist church environment. Our employees are called to lead a life that becomes the gospel, and we expect them to exhibit appropriate demeanor both on and off the job.

Nice To Haves

  • Early Childhood Education coursework or Child Development Associate (CDA) credential preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Works to establish a safe, healthy and simulating environment for our youngest students.  Ensures children are supervised at all times.
  • Responsible for implementing the authorized curriculum and developmentally appropriate activities in the classroom.
  • Uses positive guidance and classroom management skills with children that is age appropriate.
  • Establishes a trusting relationship with student, families and staff through open communication, teamwork, and demonstrating a positive attitude.
  • Communicates with others in a positive, professional manner.
  • Uses technology to document children’s attendance, daily activities, and communicate with parents.
