About The Position

The Infant Mental Health/Home-based Therapist will work as a member of a team with program staff and community resources to provide a continuum of services to infants and their families in an effort to strengthen and preserve the parent infant relationship, assist in identifying needs, and provide therapeutic interventions as needed.

Requirements

  • Individual must possess a Master's Degree in Social Work or equivalent degree in a field related to mental health from an accredited college or university.
  • Current registration to practice clinical work from the State of Michigan Department of Licensing is required (LLMSW/LMSW/LLPC/LPC/TLLP/LLP/LP).
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to obtain appropriate certification through the Michigan Association of Infant Mental Health.
  • Background in early childhood development or basic understanding of appropriate parent-infant dynamics.
  • Must be able to enter and retrieve data using computer systems, systems applications, and other office equipment.
  • Ability to demonstrate commitment, caring and respect for children and adults from diverse backgrounds that demonstrate a multiplicity of problems.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and responsibly as a member of a team with colleagues, supervisors, and collateral contacts.
  • Ability to develop treatment plans and coordinate needed services.
  • Ability to role model appropriate child-handling techniques to parents.
  • An understanding of professional practice, ethics, and HIPPA requirements.
  • Demonstrate positive communication both orally and written.
  • Ability to represent the agency in a professional manner.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive assessments and facilitate person centered planning.
  • Provide support and crisis intervention with infants and their families.
  • Assist in coordination and referrals of support services to parents.
  • Provide home-based therapeutic services.
  • Facilitate support groups as needed.
  • Submit timely and accurate paperwork.
  • Maintain client files in order and up to date.
  • Participate in individual and group supervision.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development including but not limited to in-service training, peer review, external workshops and seminars.
  • Attend all agency and department meetings as required.
  • All other duties as assigned.
