About The Position

This is industries shop management work at the first supervisory level. An employee in this class instructs and monitors the activities of inmates in an institutional industries shop which provides employment and vocational training in the methods, practices and techniques in the area of specialization. An employee in this class also advises inmates in the performance of the work, and evaluates and reports on their cooperativeness, capability and potential. Work is performed under the administrative supervision of a Correctional Industries Manager and involves regular exposure to unpredictable conditions, and requires frequent light physical effort.

Requirements

  • Five years of experience as a carpenter or cabinetmaker.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct and monitor the activities of inmates in the industries shop.
  • Provide employment and vocational training in carpentry methods and techniques.
  • Advise inmates on their work performance.
  • Evaluate and report on inmates' cooperativeness, capability, and potential.
