About The Position

The Weaving Manager is responsible for overseeing daily weaving operations within the manufacturing facility to ensure production goals, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently met. This role provides leadership to weaving personnel, manages workflow and equipment performance, and partners with Quality, Maintenance, and Production leadership to drive continuous improvement. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge of weaving processes, hands-on leadership experience, and a commitment to operational excellence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training or associate degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in weaving, textile manufacturing, or industrial production environments.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong working knowledge of weaving processes, loom operation, and production scheduling.
  • Experience with quality systems, production metrics, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficient in basic computer applications (ERP/MRP systems, Excel, production reporting tools).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and support off-shift or weekend needs as required.
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.in adherence with Midwest Hose Safety Standards
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all weaving department operations, including scheduling, staffing, and production output.
  • Ensure production targets are met while maintaining high standards of quality, efficiency, and cost control.
  • Monitor workflow, machine utilization, and labor allocation to optimize productivity and minimize downtime.
  • Review production reports, KPIs, scrap rates, and rework trends; implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure woven products meet Midwest Hose & Specialty quality standards, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance to investigate nonconformances and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain compliance with safety policies, OSHA requirements, and internal manufacturing procedures.
  • Lead, train, and develop weaving operators and leads; conduct performance evaluations and coaching.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and skills development initiatives within the department.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance to schedule preventive maintenance and address equipment issues promptly.
  • Support troubleshooting of weaving machinery to reduce unplanned downtime and improve reliability.
  • Recommend process or equipment improvements to enhance efficiency and product quality.
  • Identify and implement Lean, efficiency, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects related to production optimization, cost reduction, and new product development.
