We're looking for an Industrial Wastewater Operator in North Charleston, SC to safely operate and maintain treatment facilities, ensuring compliance with permit limits and supporting production processes that impact the communities we serve. The starting pay is $20.00-$25.00 per hour depending on experience and if a Wastewater Operator License is held. Candidates with enough industry experience may be able to negotiate a higher starting rate. Schedule: This is a full-time role with flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, and participation in a 24-hour emergency call-out rotation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (required).
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in water or wastewater operations.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Wastewater Operator License (preferred) or ability to obtain.
  • Technical skills: advanced knowledge of wastewater systems, ability to follow operating manuals, proficiency with Microsoft Office and internet tools.
  • Physical ability to frequently lift 5060 pounds, walk or stand for long periods, climb stairs and ladders, and access confined spaces.
  • Ability to work weekends and on an on-call rotation when needed

Nice To Haves

  • Wastewater Operator License (preferred) or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain a wide range of equipment, including valves, pumps, motors, belt presses, and disinfection systems.
  • Perform testing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance of water and wastewater treatment systems.
  • Track and document daily flow, chemical usage, and treatment processes to ensure compliance.
  • Respond to emergency callouts, diagnose issues, and restore equipment functionality quickly and safely.
  • Maintain facility cleanliness and security, including groundskeeping tasks as needed.
  • Train employees on SOPs, safety practices, and plant operations.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and team members on routine technical operations.
  • Support coordination of maintenance activities within the facility.
