About The Position
The Industrial Wastewater Inspector position offers a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about environmental stewardship and community service. This role involves conducting comprehensive inspections of commercial and industrial wastewater facilities, ensuring compliance with EPA regulations and standards. The inspector will engage in field sampling of wastewater across various service areas, including treatment plants and industrial discharge points. This position is critical in identifying potential pollution sources, investigating emergency spills, and documenting incidents to maintain environmental integrity. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting EPA-regulated facilities, evaluating treatment processes, and ensuring that hazardous waste management practices meet legal requirements. You will conduct pre-permit inspections to determine appropriate sampling methods and document any violations of discharge requirements. The position requires a keen eye for detail, as you will be responsible for writing concise reports that may be used in civil and criminal enforcement actions. Additionally, you will draft enforcement documents and prepare legal documentation related to wastewater discharges. The job also includes training Industrial Wastewater Inspector Trainees, maintaining equipment, and responding to chemical spills. The work schedule is designed to promote work-life balance, allowing for a compressed workweek of four 10-hour days, from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm. This position not only contributes to the protection of water resources but also plays a vital role in public health and safety.
