About The Position

WSP is currently initiating a search for a full-time Industrial Wastewater Engineering Intern - Summer 2026 for our Lakewood, CO office. Be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges. This internship will be part of the WSP Summer Internship Program. As a summer intern, you have the opportunity to participate in our 12-week program scheduled to start on May 18th, 2026. The individual start date of the internship may be flexible.

Requirements

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related Undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later.
  • Must be 18 or older.
  • Demonstrated interest in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP's work and projects.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products.
  • The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related Master's degree or PhD with a focus on water or wastewater treatment, and an anticipated graduation date of August 2026 or later.
  • Experience with AutoCAD/Civil3D, Bluebeam, Microsoft Visio, or Pipe-FLO.
  • Prior internship experience, leadership experience, or relevant coursework.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside clients in industrial, mining, and municipal industries to engineer and develop water treatment solutions.
  • Assist and further develop skills in project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
  • Consult with and assist water treatment plants.
  • Utilize opportunities to design as well as support existing water treatment plants.

  • Expected Salary (Colorado only): $20.91 - $28.62
