About The Position

The Industrial Vacuum Technician supports refinery and plant turnaround operations by operating industrial vacuum equipment to remove sludge, liquids, and debris in active industrial environments. This is a hands-on, physically demanding role that requires strict adherence to safety procedures and PPE requirements.

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Valid TWIC Card
• Ability to pass a background check
• Ability to pass a drug screen, including hair follicle testing
• Availability for turnaround schedules, including overtime, nights, and weekends
• Ability to perform physical labor and work in confined spaces
• Strong safety awareness and reliable attendance
• High school diploma or GED required; technical certifications or vocational training strongly preferred
• 2–5 years of field experience in electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, or utility-related work
• Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
• Strong troubleshooting skills and familiarity with test equipment (e.g., multimeters, pressure gauges)
• Comfortable working in outdoor and industrial environments
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Willingness to travel regionally or work irregular hours based on project needs

Nice To Haves

• Industrial cleaning or vacuum experience
• Confined Space or HAZWOPER training
• Prior turnaround or refinery experience
• OSHA 10 or 30 certification
• Experience in power generation, industrial facilities, oil & gas, or renewable energy
• Basic knowledge of PLCs, SCADA systems, or remote monitoring technologies
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus in many locations

Responsibilities

• Operate industrial vacuum trucks and vacuum pump equipment
• Clean trenches, pits, tanks, sumps, and confined spaces
• Support refinery and plant turnarounds
• Complete Safety Essentials and all site-required training
• Follow all safety, environmental, and site-specific procedures
• Wear required PPE at all times
• Assist with equipment setup, teardown, and basic maintenance
• Complete required safety and job documentation
