About The Position

This position involves advanced work in the operation of a Garment Factory, specifically within the Manufacturing, Agribusiness, and Logistics Division at the McConnell Unit Garment Factory. The role primarily focuses on overseeing inmates to ensure efficient production and operations. The incumbent works under minimal supervision, exercising considerable initiative and independent judgment.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED
Eighteen months full-time, wage-earning experience in garment manufacturing or three years full-time, wage-earning experience in any production or manufacturing operation
Knowledge of quality control standards to maintain satisfactory levels of production
Knowledge of production and workflow procedures
Skill to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely
Skill to coordinate with other staff, departments, officials, agencies, organizations, and the public
Skill to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
Skill in problem-solving techniques
Skill to prepare and maintain accurate records, files, and reports
Skill to train and supervise inmates

Nice To Haves

Experience in the supervision of inmates preferred
Correctional custody or law enforcement experience preferred
Knowledge of agency and departmental organizational structure, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations preferred
Knowledge of garment manufacturing preferred
Skill in the use of machinery and equipment in the assigned area preferred

Responsibilities

Oversees inmates in the performance of assigned tasks and the overall processing and production of the Garment Factory
Plans schedules of operations
Ensures the proper maintenance of machinery and equipment
Conducts inspections and provides technical assistance in methods and equipment used in garment manufacturing
Reviews raw material requirements
Requisitions supplies, machinery, and equipment
Prepares invoices for products distributed
Prepares reports of operations and related documentation to include quality and quantity of production
Maintains evaluations and records of training activities and proficiencies
Maintains the security of tools, machinery, and equipment
Responds to emergency situations
Performs various correctional and custodial support functions
Assists in maintaining security of assigned inmates
