About The Position

The Industrial Security Specialist is responsible for maintaining an effective and compliant security program by ensuring timely initiation, maintenance, and lifecycle management of personnel security clearances, access credentials, and associated records. The position supports the Facility Security Officer (FSO) and Industrial Security leadership in meeting NISPOM requirements and sustaining a strong security culture. Requirements

  • Must possess working knowledge of NISPOM, with emphasis on Personnel Security requirements.
  • Must have hands-on experience with DCSA Systems of Record (DISS, NISS, eApp, etc.).
  • Must be able to maintain strong attention to detail and can manage high-volume, deadline driven Personnel Security (PERSEC) actions.
  • Must demonstrate excellent organizational, documentation, and follow-up skills.
  • Must be able to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Proficient in the English language with proven ability to effectively communicate and collaborate across all levels of the organization, and with customers, both written and verbally.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must demonstrate safe and healthy workplace practices.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Must be able to travel within the US and internationally.
  • Must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities of Industrial Security Specialist in daily work performance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance; active clearance preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) and not be barred from any installation.
  • 1-5 years of experience supporting an Industrial Security or Personnel Security program within a cleared defense contractor environment.
  • Experience working with or supporting federal security partners (DCSA, etc.), required.
  • High School diploma or GED, required.

  • Additional post-secondary education in security, criminal justice, or related field, a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the full lifecycle of Personnel Security Clearances (PCLs) in accordance with the NISPOM, including initiation, updates, upgrades/downgrades, Continuous Vetting (CV) enrollment and monitoring, periodic reinvestigations, separations, and debriefs.
  • Process and manage clearance actions in DCSA Systems of Record (e.g., NISS, DISS, eApp), ensuring accurate, timely documentation and recordkeeping.
  • Coordinate electronic fingerprint submissions, troubleshoot vendor/government system issues, and ensure successful completion of submission requirements.
  • Track clearance status, eligibility, and access determinations for personnel, visitors, subcontractors, and consultants, verifying access requirements as needed.
  • Conduct and document initial, annual, and termination security briefings, ensuring compliance with briefing requirements and retention standards.
  • Manage CAC and government-issued credential processes, including sponsorship, issuance, maintenance, appointment coordination, revocation, and recovery in accordance with DoD and site-specific requirements.
  • Maintain accountability and inventory records for CACs and credentials, ensuring prompt recovery upon employee separation or access revocation.
  • Maintain facility security documentation in NISS, including updates tied to organizational, personnel, or operational changes.
  • Support self-inspections, internal compliance reviews, audits, and preparation for DCSA Security Vulnerability Assessments (SVAs).
  • Assist with investigation, documentation, and reporting of security incidents, infractions, and reportable changes; escalate concerns to the FSO as appropriate.
  • Support visitor control and access procedures as required.
  • Serve as a supporting member of the Insider Threat Program by promoting insider risk awareness and identifying/reporting potential concerns.
  • Provide direct support to the FSO through special projects, security-related events, and other program needs.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
