Mercer Engineering Research Center (MERC), a research institute of Mercer University, provides high quality engineering, scientific, and technical support services to both government and private industry customers. The Industrial Security Administrator is responsible to assist and support the MERC Facility Security Officer (FSO) in executing day to day DISS/NBIS recordkeeping, preparing visit requests, and investigation packages for review. The Industrial Security Administrator maintains OSA classified material logs, delivers routine security briefings, and supports badge/access processing and assists the FSO with maintaining the facility clearance for the Center.

  • DISS/NBIS data entry and reconciliation using unique credentials and audit-quality recordkeeping.
  • Prepares visit requests and investigation packages for FSO review and submission.
  • Maintains Open Storage Areas (OSAs) sign in/sign out logs and custodial control of classified material per standard operating procedures.
  • Delivers onboarding and refresher security briefings and tracks completion in the training registry.
  • Processes badge issuance and updates access rosters per physical security procedures.
  • Conducts self-inspections using checklists, gathers evidence, and documents findings for supervisory review.
  • Drafts incident reports and collects evidence; escalates immediately to FSO for action.
  • Follows chain of custody and records retention procedures for classified and sensitive materials.
  • Must adhere to instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Responsible for support and execution of other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the FSO.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Active Top Secret clearance or ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance, up to the top secret level.
  • 1 - 3 years in security administration, records management, or related operational support.
  • Knowledge of NISPOM fundamentals, cyber awareness, and PII handling; familiarity with DISS/NBIS.
  • Strong attention to detail, disciplined recordkeeping, and standard operating procedure compliance.
  • Must have the ability to interface effectively and professionally with co-workers and government agencies and officials.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and proficient in the use of PC application software.
  • Must have knowledge of commonly-used security concepts, practices, and procedures required by DCSA for receipt and storage, both physical and digital, of DoD classified materials and required by DCSA to maintain a facility classification at the appropriate level.
