Requirements

  • High school diploma, state-recognized GED, or comparable mix of education and experience.
  • 1+ year of equipment operation in an industrial setting.
  • Proven rigging know-how and cargo securement skills.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Physical realities Work in non-climate-controlled spaces as needed.
  • Stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl; frequent use of hands to handle tools/materials.
  • Frequent speaking; occasional odor detection tasks.
  • Lift or move up to 40 lbs.
  • Vision capabilities: close/distance; color differentiation; peripheral; depth perception; ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and support safe in-plant movements of rail vehicles.
  • Prepare flatcars and load rolling stock onto flatcars or tractor trailers using established procedures.
  • Select and apply appropriate rigging and tie-down techniques for each move.
  • Conduct thorough visual inspections and quality checks on equipment and securement.
  • Interpret drawings/blueprints; operate hand and power tools with confidence and care.
  • Pitch in on facility-wide special activities as guided by the lead technician.
  • Perform equipment maintenance for production, transportation, and facility operations using prints, parts lists, sketches, or verbal instructions.
  • Communicate clearly and follow instructions accurately.
