About The Position

Pillar Innovations is seeking an Industrial Automation Programmer II to join our Engineering & Automation group. This role involves designing, programming, and deploying advanced automation systems across various industries. The ideal candidate will have experience with Rockwell or Siemens PLC and HMI programming, utilizing platforms such as RSLogix, FactoryTalk View, Simatic S7, and WinCC. The position requires collaboration with engineers, technicians, and project managers to interpret electrical schematics, configure control components, and ensure systems are fully tested and commissioned to meet customer needs. The role also offers opportunities to lead engineering personnel and contribute to custom automation projects in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Requirements

  • 6+ years’ relevant programming work experience.
  • Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess relevant programming certifications or coursework preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency with personal computers including Microsoft Office Suite, setup, configuration, networking, IP Addresses, etc.
  • Active as a customer point of contact.
  • Proficient with PLC and HMI software such as Rockwell Automation RSLogix, FactoryTalk View, and Ignition required.
  • Strong understanding of overall industrial systems, processes, and control methods.
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform SCADA development.
  • Lead and perform PLC and HMI programming, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting on machines, production lines, conveyor systems, etc.
  • Recognize and pursue additional business opportunities with new and existing customers.
  • Integrate various instrumentation such as pressure sensors, load cells, flow meters, etc.
  • Understand the scope of work and communicate parameters with customers.
  • Recognize and recommend improvements and enhancements to customers.
  • Communicate design changes to Engineers and Project Management that are not included in the Scope of Work or active Change Orders.
  • Work safely in proximity to various voltages such as 24VDC, 120VAC, 480VAC, single phase and 3-phase.
  • Interpret electrical drawings and documentation for custom machines, systems, and products.
  • Configure controls components such as VFDs, servo drives, machine vision systems, robot controllers, field IO racks, etc.
