The Industrial Engineer ensures that our processes, systems or components function without failure under the stated conditions for a specific period of time, ensuring quality and customer satisfaction. This position will be involved in developing, designing, planning, executing, and closing out capex projects and should be capable of working collaboratively with Maintenance and Production Managers to improve OEE (overall equipment efficiency) and reduce costs. Support overall plant safety objectives by consulting with the site safety and maintenance manager, work to identify current safety shortcomings and assist in design modifications, to eliminate safety hazards and near misses. Evaluate and support a lean environment throughout the site by generating and championing ideas to systematically improve Plant Key Performance Indicators, through the use of global standardized tools and processes. Work closely with production and maintenance manager to utilize mathematical and/or statistical modelling techniques to co-develop solutions to identify and manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations. Work closely with site Maintenance Manager in developing and utilizing computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to support predictive and preventative maintenance objectives, by utilizing MTBF (mean time between failures) and MTBR (mean time between repairs) modelling. Conduct bottleneck analysis for each process function for evaluation of potential capacity constraints, identify and prioritize improvements. Participates in the development and implementation of programs to ensure equipment availability meets or exceeds established maintenance related targets. Continuously research and explore new technologies, designs, materials, and processes to help drive strategic reliability metrics. Identify and evaluate needs for plant wide capital projects, engineer solutions and design modifications to improve yield, productivity, better utilization of capacity, labor and equipment; including ROI analysis, vendor management and execution of capital projects. Conducts capacity studies on equipment throughput in assigned areas and communicate findings with the Manufacturing, Maintenance, and Process Improvement Teams. Utilize lean manufacturing and six sigma methodologies to collect, analyze, and utilize data to design and execute improvements. Identify and track critical spares inventory and implement inventory control strategy. Collaborate with department managers and technicians to deliver effective initiatives. Meets product and project cost objectives, maximum utilization of manpower, machinery and material and minimize inventory levels. Monitors and evaluates the production processes and equipment to determine the best operational methods and maintenance plans. Leads and works with maintenance staff to understand downtime issues and proactively manage production equipment. Establishes and communicates critical spares, repair parts, and raw material needs; meets with suppliers. Facilitates the development of strategies and corrective actions to resolve quality issues as necessary.
