We are looking for a Plant Mechanic with skilled metal fabrication experience for our Melbourne, FL Maintenance Shop. Starting pay is $26.88 plus, depending upon experience. Responsibilities The Production Mechanic is responsible for coordinating and monitoring the maintenance and repair of plant machinery and maximize equipment availability through the use of efficient and proactive preventative maintenance programs. This position ensures compliance with all standards, policies, and regulations for safe, environmentally-sound maintenance activities.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of three phase electrical systems
  • Working knowledge of compressors, dryers and other similar types of machinery.
  • Working knowledge of conveyor systems and belts.
  • Must be able to working at heights, climbing, and working in the heat.
  • Able to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and climb to heights of at least 50 feet frequently.
  • Able to speak clearly and listen attentively
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Able to work 12 hr. plus shifts as needed.
  • Able to work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Measure, cut, bend and shape metal
  • Weld metal using mig, tig, or stick
  • Assemble fabricated parts for proper fit and alignment
  • Operates grinders, drills and press
  • Follow all safety procedures
  • Work well with team members
  • Knowledge of steel, aluminum and other metal
  • HS Diploma or Equivalent.
  • At least 2 to 5 years’ experience as a mechanic working on production environment.
  • History of working safely.

Nice To Haves

  • Welding certifications is a plus
  • Strong attention to details and quality

Responsibilities

  • Work with and repair three phase, controls, and electrical systems.
  • Repair pneumatic systems including compressors, dryers, and solenoid valves.
  • Repair conveyor components, splicing belts, tracking belts, and belt components.
  • Repair water systems, bladder tanks, and booster pumps.
  • Welding various items around the plant, i.e., cutting, ox and acc.,
  • Report equipment breakdowns to generate work orders.
  • Prepare work orders
  • Keeps the equipment being operated, clean and safe.
