About the position

Atlantic Constructors is seeking dynamic, motivated, career-minded individuals to join our expanding team! As a Pipe Fitter Helper, you will assist in laying out, fabricating, assembling, installing, and maintaining commercial and industrial production and processing piping systems. You will work closely with Pipe Fitters and Welders to learn all aspects of Pipe Fitting and Welding. This position requires a commitment to safety and quality, as well as the ability to work in various environments and conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assists to interpret sketches, blueprints, and isometric drawings
• Assists Pipe Fitter to clean, bevel, and install pipe with various fittings and weld joints
• Performs layout, rigging, and transportation of pipe, valves, and fittings
• Installs pipe and related materials and equipment
• Inspects worksite to determine presence of obstructions
• Plans sequence on installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other workers
• Cuts pipe using pipe cutter, cutting torch, and pipe cutting machine
• Threads pipe using threading machine
• Secures pipes to structure with brackets, clamps, and hangers, using hand and power tools
• Tests piping systems
• Loads, transports, and unloads material, tools, equipment, and supplies
• Assists in lifting, positioning, and securing of material and work pieces during installation
• Maintains tools and equipment
• Relies on pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a pipe fitter/welder apprentice or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience
• NCCER certified preferred
• Ability to learn to sketch complex isometric drawings
• Must be able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail, and demonstrate problem-solving skills
• Must be able to pass post-offer pre-employment drug screen and may be required to satisfactorily complete additional background checks as required
• Must adhere to all company policy and procedures
• Must be available and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned

Nice-to-haves
