Ontic’s Chatsworth, CA, site specializes in precision engineering, MRO, and new solutions for parts at risk of obsolescence. Our team is looking for an Industrial Painter with Aerospace/ Automotive painting experience. This position is responsible for painting aircraft parts. The key to success in this position is the delivery of on time quality parts by assuring precise conformance to specifications, workmanship standards and customer requirements. In addition to the technical skills required, the ultimate foundation of the paint Department is teamwork and displaying certain behaviors to support the success of the team. Key behaviors include teamwork, trust, respect for co-workers, consensus building and integrity. We approach challenges willingly and consider continuous improvement a daily part of the job.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional automotive painting experience in a collision or custom shop.
- Proficiency with HVLP spray equipment, air brush.
- Artist brush.
- Strong eye for color accuracy, finish texture and detail.
- Knowledge of paint types, curing processes and surface preparation methods.
- Ability to work efficiently without sacrificing quality.
- A passion for craftsmanship and pride in delivering exceptional results.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace
- Work to posted schedules
- General knowledge equivalent to high school education.
- Aerospace manufacturing environment is desired.
- Ability to read work instructions, blueprints, specifications and schematics desired
- 3 + years in an automotive paint environment.
- Can use a weight scale.
- Hand eye coordination, steady hands, ability to operate shop equipment.
- Clear verbal communication in English
- Must be able to identify colors and read minimum of 8-point font
- must be organized, able to keep good records and feedback information in an organized manner.
- Ability to take instructions, work with minimal supervision, stay on task; ask the right questions, communicate with all levels of the company, and formulate information in a logical manner and follow through to produce results.
- ability to use all applicable shop math such as adding, subtracting, and multiplying/dividing whole and decimal numbers.
- Ability to effectively speak, comprehend and write in English.
Responsibilities
- Prepare aircraft items for painting by sanding, masking and priming surfaces to perfection.
- Mix paints to manufacture specifications.
- Apply base coats, primers, top coats using HVLP spray guns and/or other equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA standards.
- Collaborate with the engineering and assembly team to ensure an adequate end product.
