The Painter applies paint and various other coatings as specified by customers to fabricated metal piping, tanks, and other structures. This role involves painting of pipe spools, structural steel, positioners, and machined parts, ensuring that all work is conducted safely and efficiently.

  • Painting of pipe spools, structural steel, positioners, and machined parts
  • Ability to use both a dry mil gage and a wet mil gage
  • Clean used equipment well in order to keep maintenance time down
  • Ensure you have the materials necessary in the mixing area before starting
  • Ability to mix, thin and apply Alkyds, Latex, Zinc Rich, Epoxies (to include Ultra High Solids) and Urethane coatings
  • Dispose of excess materials in their proper areas
  • Ability to use an airless and conventional sprayer
  • Ability to be trained on a forklift, tug, overhead crane, and tractor
  • Maintain good organization of the shop floor
  • Performing other job-related duties as assigned
  • Conducts work safely and follows all safety procedures. Rejects work that is not safe and discusses the situation with supervisor.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and/or one year experience and/or training
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percent, area, circumference, and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Ability to problem solve, and work independently
