About The Position

This role involves preparing accurate cost estimates for mechanical and piping projects, supporting pre-construction planning, and helping our project teams deliver exceptional results on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience estimating mechanical and piping work in the industrial construction industry within the Gulf Coast region, particularly in Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and other relevant tools is a plus.
• Knowledge of local building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess project scope and identify cost-effective solutions.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with clients, vendors, and team members.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred. Equivalent work experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate, comprehensive cost estimates for mechanical and piping work on industrial projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors.
• Review and interpret project specifications, drawings, and scope of work to develop estimates for mechanical and piping systems.
• Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather data and pricing for estimates.
• Ensure all estimates align with client requirements, local industry standards, and regulatory codes.
• Provide detailed breakdowns of estimated costs for presentation to management and clients.
• Track historical data to improve accuracy of future estimates and monitor cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
• Participate in value engineering discussions to propose alternative solutions that maintain project scope and quality while optimizing cost.
• Communicate with clients, vendors, and project managers regarding estimates, scope, and any adjustments or changes during the bidding phase.
• Maintain knowledge of local market conditions, labor rates, material costs, and construction methods specific to Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
• Assist in preparing bids and proposals for competitive tendering, including preparing scope letters and clarification responses.
• Ensure estimates comply with industry safety standards and environmental regulations.
• Contribute to the development of project budgets, schedules, and forecasts, ensuring cost control measures are in place.
