About the position

This position is responsible for supporting the effective use and functionality of the automated equipment within a fully automated Distribution Center, while mentoring technician associates. The associate must use technical knowledge and skills to diagnose electrical controls issues to a component level, which includes diagnosis of capacitors, inductors, diodes, LED, and transistors. This position also involves programming basic changes to PLC Controllers and troubleshooting communication issues with devices connected to the MHE network.

Responsibilities

  • Support the effective use and functionality of automated equipment in the Distribution Center.
  • Mentor technician associates.
  • Diagnose electrical controls issues to a component level.
  • Program basic changes to PLC Controllers.
  • Troubleshoot communication issues with devices connected to the MHE network.
  • Ensure effective preventative maintenance plans and schedules for all facility equipment and systems.
  • Diagnose Materials Handling Equipment and Automated Picking System-related error conditions.
  • Oversee maintenance, modifications, and system upgrades of Materials Handling Equipment and Automated Picking System controls.
  • Assess the efficiency of materials handling equipment and automated picking systems.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain CMMS/EAM system on repairs required and performed on equipment.
  • Manage the inventory of spare parts.

Requirements

  • Requires some technical vocational training or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Normally requires at least two years related and progressively responsible experience.
  • Strong electrical background preferred.
  • Strong technical and operational knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment and systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret CAD layouts, IPB diagrams, and electrical circuitry diagrams.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical issues.
  • Ability to test equipment and instrumentation systems including electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, refrigeration, and water treatment chemicals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Strong analytical skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) preferred.
  • Experience with MHE software such as RSLogix, Sort Director, GSMi, IPoint, Flex Sort, etc.
  • Ability to mentor other technicians.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills; attention to detail.
