About The Position

LEAD Technical seeks a multi-craft Industrial Maintenance Technician to support our client in Tipton, IN. The Maintenance Technician's responsibility within the Maintenance department is to provide outstanding customer service to the production and support groups in the plant through the preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and upgrading of plant processing, packaging, filling, and infrastructure systems. This position will NOT be the type of maintenance position where you sit in the shop waiting on a call. It will be 99% out on the floor being proactive while diagnosing, repairing, and performing PM on equipment and facilities. This multi-craft Maintenance Technician is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and maintaining PLC's, VFD's, servos, complex safety controls, electro-pneumatics, modulating control valves, flowmeters, temperature transmitters, pressure transducers, level transmitters, etc., some with sophisticated control schemes. The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain the plant in a safe and reliable condition in compliance with all applicable corporate, state, and federal codes. This includes maintaining and troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic filling, cooking, packaging equipment, forklifts, and utilities. The technician will be required to make machine adjustments to mechanical and electrical systems for proper operation, utilizing electrical/mechanical skills with utility systems. The ability to machine and weld parts, experience with reading blueprints, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams, as well as experience with pumps, motors, and AC/DC drives, is essential. Strong control troubleshooting skills with some PLC programming ability and experience are also required. Knowledge of boiler systems, sanitary welding, and any food manufacturing experience is a plus. General duties include assisting, planning, and providing preventive maintenance and line support as required for non-routine problems and issues. The technician will troubleshoot equipment and system problems for manufacturing and facility equipment, both routine and complex, using a defined method of troubleshooting to get to the root cause. This involves reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams as required. The technician will also fabricate and install mechanical and electronic equipment and perform program changes. Engagement in safety, compliance, continuous improvement, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is a routine part of their job responsibilities, along with following all department and plant procedures. The technician will support the Maintenance Director through writing and closing work orders by utilizing the current CMMS and through effective use of the stockroom system. Completing all training as scheduled and performing cross-training and other work-related duties as assigned, including providing training to other employees, is also expected.
