The Public Works Department is comprised of six divisions that fall under the direction of the Public Works Director and Assistant Director. Each division provides an important service to the citizens of York County and contributes to the quality of life experienced by those who live in our county. The Solid Waste Collection & Recycling Division operates a recycling separation center for processing of recyclable materials and operates sixteen collection & recycling centers strategically located across York County for the disposal of municipal solid waste and other approved recyclables. We are excited to hire a Service Mechanic (Industrial Maintenance Technician) to join our team within the Public Works Department, Solid Waste Collection & Recycling Division. The purpose of this position is to serve as a skilled technician primarily in our Material Recovery Facility in charge of maintaining production equipment required to produce products with minimal downtime. A Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) is a specialized plant that sorts, separates, and prepares recyclable materials for marketing to end-user manufacturers, playing a crucial role in recycling and waste management. Equipment includes conveyors, balers, compactors, air compressors, and specialized sorting equipment. Responsibilities include the inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment for the Solid Waste Collection and Recycling Division; performing general building and grounds maintenance work as assigned; preparing maintenance records utilizing an electronic work order system; and performing related technical work as required.
