About The Position

TekPro is partnered with a successful, global manufacturing company in their search for a skilled maintenance technician for one of their plants in the Des Plaines, IL area! Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Electro-Mechanical Technician to join our night shift maintenance team. This position is critical to maintaining production uptime by troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing both electrical and mechanical systems within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of industrial automation, machinery maintenance, and safety protocols.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as an electro-mechanical or industrial maintenance technician in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of both electrical and mechanical systems, including troubleshooting AC/DC motors, sensors, relays, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley preferred), motor controls, and industrial automation systems.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Comfortable working independently on night shift and responding to emergency breakdowns.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding conditions (climbing, bending, standing for long periods).
  • Forklift certification or willingness to become certified.
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in industrial maintenance, electrical technology, or related field preferred.
  • You should be proficient in: Mechanical Troubleshooting Skills 120/208/240/480 Voltage Systems Electrical Troubleshooting Maintenance and Repair Skills

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with flexible packaging equipment (extrusion, lamination, flexographic printing, slitting) is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Perform troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, and control systems on production and facility equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals to diagnose faults accurately.
  • Maintain and service a wide range of equipment including motors, pumps, gearboxes, PLCs, chillers, and compressors.
  • Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
  • Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, PLC software, and other testing equipment to assess system performance.
  • Document all maintenance work performed using the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Support production teams by responding promptly to maintenance-related issues during night operations.
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with plant safety standards and regulations, including Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Assist with inventory control and maintain proper organization of tools and spare parts.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and reliability-focused maintenance practices.
