About The Position

The position is for an Electrical Mechanical Technician at Cornerstone Building Brands, located at 1155 West 2300 North, SLC, UT 84025. The role involves working with hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical apparatus, troubleshooting and repairing manufacturing equipment, and ensuring safety protocols are followed. The technician will work on various technical projects, handle complex problems, and maintain machinery in good operating condition. The shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours long, depending on work orders and the season.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Electrical Mechanical Technician in an industrial manufacturing facility or a two-year degree in automation or electrical.
  • Demonstrated commitment to electrical safety.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, decision making skills, problem analysis, and conflict management skills, particularly in pressure situations.
  • Experience with pneumatic systems.
  • Experience with mechanical systems.
  • Medium voltage troubleshooting and repair (480 VAC, 24VDC).
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E, NEC, and applicable OSHA standards.
  • Experience with transformers maintenance and testing.
  • Experience with three-phase motors, DC motors, and motor controls.
  • Experience with servo motors and controls.
  • Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
  • Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) (AC/DC).
  • Proficient in reading and understanding electrical diagrams and technical manuals.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist.

Responsibilities

  • Understand all safety rules and precautions necessary for working with hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical apparatus.
  • Work on highly technical or involved projects, presenting new or constantly changing problems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair manufacturing equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and relay logic.
  • Choose corresponding components for replacement.
  • Safely handle and work with various voltages and power sources.
  • Familiarity with metal fabrication and light machine work.
  • Use various types of welding equipment, including Mig, Arc, and flame cutting equipment.
  • Use electricians hand tools and measuring and testing equipment.
  • Perform visual and mechanical inspections required to keep machinery in good operating condition.
  • Follow preventive maintenance program as established by the company.
  • Give on-the-job direction to new maintenance mechanics and/or others assisting in maintenance work.
  • Maintain continuous improvement efforts in work area.
