About The Position

As our Industrial Maintenance Planner–Scheduler, you transform maintenance demand into an executable weekly plan that maximizes technician time and minimizes downtime. You’ll walk the floor, scope non-emergency work, and convert requests into detailed job plans—then sequence those plans into a weekly schedule that fully utilizes labor capacity.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a technical discipline and 1–3 years in maintenance planning/scheduling; or 5–10 years as a machine repair technician; or an equivalent blend of both.
  • Comfort working in an industrial manufacturing environment with strong electrical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Fluency with computers, CMMS/maintenance systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Clear, confident verbal communication along with facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build and sustain positive, professional relationships across functions.

Nice To Haves

  • Interest in developing leadership capabilities.
  • Hands-on experience creating job plans, scheduling work, and supporting flawless execution.
  • Background in project management and capital projects.
  • Certifications: CMRP, Green Belt, STS.

Responsibilities

  • Review new, non-urgent work requests; perform site walkdowns to clarify scope, constraints, access, and safety considerations.
  • Build complete job plans by estimating craft hours, skill sets, parts, materials, consumables, and any special tools or equipment required for safe, efficient execution.
  • Pull technical references—drawings, schematics, specs, spare parts lists—from equipment histories, OEM manuals, and the knowledge base.
  • Confirm parts availability before placing jobs on the schedule and arrange special tools or auxiliary equipment as needed.
  • Prioritize and organize the work order backlog, keeping a robust Ready Backlog at or above 80% so crews always have prepared work.
  • Lead weekly planning and scheduling meetings with Production to align priorities, share status, and adjust plans when operating conditions change.
  • Publish a weekly technician schedule that blends priority planned jobs with preventive maintenance to achieve 100% utilization of available technician labor hours.
  • Continuously improve job plans based on feedback and outcomes; use maintenance metrics and review cycles to strengthen planning and scheduling effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate records and files that enable meaningful analysis and reporting on maintenance performance.
  • Train site personnel on the CMMS, ensuring data integrity and consistent adoption across the team.
