Caterpillar has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Mechanic at our East Peoria, IL (Undercarriage Building BB) facility! Pay starts at $37.67 plus $1.00 per hour shift differential (for 2nd & 3rd shift). This full-time position offers benefits including health insurance, paid time off, paid holidays, 401K etc. We offer a $5,000 retention bonus for this role. The bonus is paid in two installments of $2,500 at the end of each calendar quarter. New hires are eligible for the first installment at the end of the quarter in which they start. As a Maintenance Mechanic at Caterpillar Inc., you will perform a variety of maintenance trade functions on plant facilities and equipment. Properly diagnose malfunctions, and plan corrective procedures. Test and repair valves, regulators, gas units, as well as repair conveyors, dynamometers, fans, and cranes. Make on-site repairs to hydraulic systems, jigs, fixtures, tooling, and install rigging to hoist units into position and uses machine tools and equipment applicable to the operation to be performed. The selected candidate will use all common and precision checking equipment, laser equipment and portable power tools as required.

Requirements

  • Able to conduct daily maintenance and keep track of safety logs on equipment
  • Able to diagnose problems and malfunctions on a wide variety of manufacturing equipment
  • Research process and product blueprints/electrical prints for own area

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for putting safety first with a goal to prevent all injuries, occupational illnesses and safety incidents
  • Apply knowledge of operation of electronic circuits to locate defects using instruments
  • Test faulty equipment, calibrate and service electronic testing instruments
  • Apply knowledge of operation of electronic units and systems to diagnose malfunctions
  • Install electrical wiring and related equipment for all building and plant equipment per local and National Electric codes
  • Perform electrical repairs and PM on building electrical equipment, production machines and HVAC Systems
  • Coordinate and prioritize work to meet customer needs and read blueprints/schematics, provide estimates for material and parts for jobs
