About The Position

Under administrative direction of the General Manager, develops, implements, and supervises departmental programs and procedures designed to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources and equipment while ensuring manufacturing levels meet established standards of safety, quality, and productivity.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of principles and processes involved in business and organizational planning, coordination, and execution to include strategic planning, resource allocation, manpower modeling, leadership techniques, and manufacturing methods.
  • Knowledge of policies and practices involved in personnel/human resource functions.
  • Excellent leadership skills including ability to coach and motivate work force in a teamwork environment, foster support of company policies and procedures, conduct performance evaluations, establish work performance goals, etc.
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills for conveying and receiving information and data related to manufacturing operations, interpreting company policies and procedures, safety and quality standards, etc., and for making oral and written presentations of departmental activities.
  • Thorough knowledge of company philosophy, policies, and procedures related to safety, quality, and customer relations.
  • Thorough knowledge of inputs, outputs, raw materials, waste, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing the manufacture of goods.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills for implementing countermeasures to correct manufacturing problems.
  • Computer literate with advanced computer word processing and spreadsheet skills.
  • Ability to make decisions in a fast paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of numbers, their operations, and interrelationships including arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Knowledge of TS16949 processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing, or related field and a minimum of eight years manufacturing management experience (or the equivalent in total experience) within a highly automated manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate, through subordinate supervisory personnel, day-to-day manufacturing operations by monitoring data and information, documenting production operations, determining methods to improve productivity, ensure associate safety, reduce costs, increase associate morale, etc., and establishing and implementing goals designed to achieve these improvements.
  • Performs various supervisory functions for the manufacturing supervisory staff including conducting performance evaluations, establishing work improvement goals and function priorities, promoting safety, quality, and other company performance standards, etc.
  • Provides guidance to the development of a manufacturing process plan, including personnel requirements, material needs, subcontract requirements, and facility needs, and tooling and equipment needs.
  • Prepares and implements manufacturing department budget and achieves financial objectives by developing and implementing strategies to reduce cost through improved efficiency, yield, and asset utilization.
  • Confers with other managers to coordinate operations and activities between departments.
  • Analyzes staff training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs.
  • Attends and participates in various company meetings regarding scheduling, safety, quality control, company policy, etc.
  • Supports annual Quality Circle presentations and Kaizen activities by promoting problem solving in a team environment, as well as team communication.
  • Supports and implements TS16949 processes.
