About The Position

As an Instructor at TSTC, you can help improve the quality of many lives by sharing your experience and skills with our students. The technical instructor is responsible for performing all aspects of instruction for assigned program to include, but not limited to, implementing, revising, and evaluating assigned program area curriculum; utilizing all resources available to innovate and to change to meet evolving program and industry needs. The technical instructor provides up-to-date skills training and instruction to meet the learning needs of students. The Instructor will also interpret and administer assessments, and offer constructive feedback to support student growth and learning outcomes. A key part of the role is to integrate technology effectively to enrich the educational experiences. This role acts as an ambassador for their programs and Texas State Technical College.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of verifiable professional experience may be accepted in lieu of other requirements as approved.
• Verifiable work experience with Industrial equipment.
• Strong Electrical/Programming skills.
• Working knowledge of Electrical Motor Control Systems, Electrical Motor Control Schematics, Maintenance of Industrial equipment and Mechanical Power Transmission systems.

Nice To Haves

• Hands-on Plant Maintenance experience.
• Working knowledge of basic fluid power (hydraulic and pneumatic) systems.
• Working knowledge of basic PLC operation and programming.
• Working knowledge of programming electrical speed control systems (AC/DC Drives).
• Working knowledge of basic machining and welding.
• Related teaching, training or mentoring experience.

• Maintain accurate student records and ensure opportunities for student evaluation.
• Collaborate with the Office of Student Success to ensure students receive current information on tutoring and other programs designed to increase retention.
• Participate in related tours and recruitment events.
• Exhibit pleasant and courteous behavior toward customers, coworkers, and the general public.
