About The Position

Great Basin College (GBC) is recruiting for a full-time faculty to teach courses in Industrial Maintenance (Millwright/Fixed Maintenance). This position is based at the Elko campus, beginning July 1st, 2026. The successful candidate will teach a variety of courses focusing on pumps, power transmissions, rigging, blueprint reading, shaft alignment, and other aspects of fixed maintenance and repair. The successful candidate will develop and revise curriculum to keep classes current with industry standards. Under the supervision of the Dean, faculty teach course content; assess student learning; stay current in their teaching field; actively refer students to supportive college resources; complete professional development; use current technology; and maintain appropriate standards of ethics and professional conduct.

Requirements

  • Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution in Millwright Technology or related field. Equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of an Associate degree.
  • Five (5) years of experience in mining-related fixed equipment repair & maintenance is required.
  • Ability to work as a team member with a genuine spirit of cooperation and flexibility.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience in alternative educational delivery methods or willingness to learn alternative delivery methodology.
  • Evidence of ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
  • Willingness and ability to travel by car throughout the large GBC service area as needed to campus and industry locations, with or without accommodations as per the Americans with Disabilities Act.

  • Experience in career and technical education strongly preferred.
  • Prefer post-secondary teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and teach classes in all aspects of Millwright Technology.
  • Supervise students in classroom and laboratory settings.
  • Direct and assess students’ progress in achieving required competencies.
  • Interact with mining and industry partners to enhance community partnerships.
  • May teach evening and distance education classes.
  • Handle administrative responsibilities related to teaching and program support.
  • Represent the college professionally

  • Great Basin College is proud to provide a reduced-rate tuition benefit to faculty and qualified dependents. Faculty can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate. Dependents of faculty have unlimited credits, but in order to be eligible children must be unmarried and under the age of 24 and must receive at least 50% of their financial support from the employee and/or employee’s spouse or domestic partner.
