About the position

Industrial Instrumentation & Control Technician performs electronics work in the calibration, programming, installation, repair, and maintenance of electronic equipment and various instrumentation, control systems, and process equipment used in an industrial/building operations setting. Assists, completes, and/or leads crews responsible for performing a broad range of electronic tasks in accordance with the International Society of Automation (ISA) standards and electronics trade practices.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots, installs, maintains, modifies, calibrates, inspects, and repairs instrumentation process control systems, motor starters, controls and variable frequency drives.
  • Designs, constructs, assembles and rearranges circuits and performs other modifications to operation and test equipment, exhibits and other devices.
  • Operates electronic controlling, measuring, recording, transmitting, testing and diagnostic equipment in an industrial operations setting.
  • Performs complex installation, modification, fabrication, repair and maintenance of electronic and/or electrical equipment used in industrial / plant / operations setting in accordance with ISA and/or the National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Performs advanced analysis and interpretation of test data and may edit PLC programs using specified software.
  • Controls industrial processes using electronic software and applications such as scientific and analytic computer software, calculators, voltage and current meters, electronic probes, process multi-meters and specialized calibration equipment.
  • Interprets and ensures compliance with established codes, calculates data necessary for wiring systems, and requisitions supplies and materials needed to complete projects and assignments.
  • May direct and/or oversee the work of lower level technicians and fellow technical maintenance employees and train lower level technicians and staff in all phases of a variety of electronic instrumentation, equipment, and control systems.
  • May serve as the lead employee as directed on project teams assigned to a given assignment.
  • May be required to complete Annual Performance Reviews.
  • Recommends electronic requirements in support of facilities and/or systems.
  • Prepares work schedules and coordinates maintenance schedule with operations as well as prepare technical reports of electronic operational issues.
  • Provides written documentation and reports for compliance inspections.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or possession of a GED Certificate.
  • One year of formal vocational schooling in electronics or other relevant field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of electronic equipment.
  • Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License.

Nice-to-haves

  • An Associate's degree in an Electronics Technology field.
  • Three years of experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of electronic equipment.
  • One year leading/directing small groups, overseeing special projects, and troubleshooting experience.
  • Possession of a valid Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST) Level 1 Certification.
