About The Position

The Inside Sales Manager is a hands-on sales leader responsible for managing a personal portfolio of customer accounts while overseeing, coaching, and developing the Inside Sales team. This role ensures exceptional customer experience, consistent execution of sales processes, and strong day-to-day performance across the team. The Inside Sales Manager will provide daily leadership, training, and performance management for Inside Sales Representatives, while acting as a strategic partner to Outside Sales Managers and internal departments to drive growth, accuracy, and on-time delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) or equivalent experience
  • Proven inside sales experience, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Prior leadership, team lead, or mentoring experience strongly preferred
  • Strong phone and email communication skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills
  • Highly organized with strong time-management and prioritization abilities
  • Customer-focused mindset with strong problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
  • Experience using ERP systems for order entry and order management

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting industries such as Kitchen Cabinet, Store Fixture, Residential, or Office Furniture manufacturing
  • Background in woodworking, manufacturing, or industrial distribution
  • Experience partnering closely with Outside Sales teams

Responsibilities

  • Manage a book of assigned customer accounts, including quoting, order entry, and ongoing relationship management
  • Identify new sales opportunities within existing accounts and through inbound lead follow-up
  • Research accounts, identify key decision makers, and generate interest in products and services
  • Understand customer needs and requirements; proactively address questions, concerns, and issues
  • Route qualified opportunities to appropriate Outside Sales Managers for further development and closure
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and support to the Inside Sales team
  • Train, onboard, and mentor Inside Sales Representatives to ensure consistent processes and high performance
  • Set clear expectations around responsiveness, accuracy, customer service, and teamwork
  • Conduct regular one-on-ones, coaching conversations, and performance reviews
  • Monitor individual and team workload, prioritization, and coverage
  • Oversee order entry and ensure accuracy using the internal ERP system
  • Facilitate daily open order management to ensure on-time delivery
  • Communicate expected delivery dates and explain backorders to customers
  • Review orders for accuracy and completeness prior to processing
  • Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Purchasing, and Logistics to troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Track and report team performance, trends, and opportunities for improvement
  • Support Outside Sales Managers by fielding phone, email, and fax inquiries as needed
  • Ensure the Inside Sales team delivers a high level of professionalism and customer focus
  • Act as an escalation point for complex customer issues or concerns
  • Maintain strong internal communication across departments to ensure seamless execution
